Buddha

Cave 12, Ellora
In this niche the Buddha, flanked by attendants, is seated on a lotus throne above a pedestal with carved lions. Some damage with restoration is evident, for example, to the Buddha's right upper arm (horizontal bands) and continuing to the figure at the Buddha's right. The sculptures on this and the following pages are located on the third, upper, story of the vihara.
