Vihara 45

Vihara 45
Sanchi
The building known today as "Vihara 45" was, as its name implies, a monastery. It dates to the 9th-10th century when Sanchi was still an active monastic center. A tall pile of stones marks the remains of a tower that once enclosed the temple sanctuary. Monks' cells line the surrounding courtyard.
