Vedanthangal-Kanchipuram

It is one of the major Water Bird Sanctuaries in India. It is situated at a distance of 48 Kms from Kanchipuram. Cormorants, Egrets, Grey Herons, Night Herons, Open-Billed Storks, Darters, Ibises, Spoonbills, Grebes, Pelicans, Garganey Teals, Shovellers, Pintails, Stilts, Sandpipers are some the birds which arrive here during season (October - March) and best time to watch them is in the early morning or in the evenings between 3pm and 6pm. Along the lake bund there is a 24' high observation area commanding a panoramic view of the sanctuary.
